1. Service Description
Your Tutor Guide is a curated tutoring agency. We provide:
- Personal tutor matching — we match your child with a vetted, exam-board-specialist tutor based on their subject, specification, year group, and learning needs.
- Tutoring sessions — online one-to-one tutoring sessions arranged and managed through the agency.
- Progress reporting — fortnightly structured reports sent to the contracting parent or guardian.
- 24-hour backup guarantee — if your assigned tutor is unable to attend a session, we will provide a qualified replacement within 24 hours.
All tutor matching is done personally by the founder. We do not use algorithms or automated systems to make matching decisions.
2. Pricing & Payment

Payment terms
- Payment is due for each session or block of sessions as agreed at the point of engagement.
- We will provide clear invoices for all charges.
- We do not charge for sessions that are cancelled with at least 48 hours’ notice (see Section 5).
3. Recurring Engagement & Subscription Protections
While our service is charged on a per-session basis rather than as a subscription, many families engage us for ongoing weekly tutoring. In the spirit of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, the following protections apply to all recurring engagements:
Easy-Exit clause
You can stop tutoring sessions at any time. There is no minimum commitment, no exit fees, and no requirement to give a reason. Simply email us with at least 48 hours’ notice before your next scheduled session.
No auto-renewal
We do not auto-renew or auto-charge. Each block of sessions is agreed and confirmed with you in advance. We will never take payment without your clear, informed consent.
Reminder notices
If your engagement has been running for 12 months, we will send you a written reminder of:
- Your total spend over the past 12 months
- Your right to exit at any time
- A summary of the service you are receiving
4. Cooling-Off Period
Initial engagement — 14-day cooling-off
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations (as applied to distance contracts), you have a statutory right to cancel your engagement within 14 calendar days of entering into it, for any reason and without penalty.
To exercise this right:
- Email us at hello@yourtutorguide.co.uk stating that you wish to cancel.
- If any sessions have already been delivered during the cooling-off period, you will only be charged for those sessions at the agreed rate. Any overpayment will be refunded within 14 days.
12-month renewal cooling-off (2026 update)
If your engagement with us has continued for 12 consecutive months, you are entitled to a further 14-day cooling-off period at the 12-month mark. We will notify you in writing when this renewal cooling-off period begins, and you may cancel under the same terms as above.
5. Session Cancellations
Cancellations by you
- 48 hours’ notice or more — no charge.
- Less than 48 hours’ notice — the full session fee may be charged, at our discretion. We understand that emergencies happen and will apply this fairly.
Cancellations by the tutor
- If your tutor cancels a session, we will provide a qualified backup tutor within 24 hours (our backup guarantee).
- If we are unable to provide a backup, the session will not be charged.
6. Intellectual Property
- Our materials — all content on the Your Tutor Guide website (including text, design, branding, and logos) is owned by Your Tutor Guide Ltd or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercially use this content without our written permission.
- Tutor-created resources — materials created by tutors specifically for your child’s sessions are provided for personal educational use only and remain the intellectual property of the tutor or Your Tutor Guide, as applicable.
- Progress reports — fortnightly reports are provided to you for your personal use. The format and methodology of our reporting system is proprietary to Your Tutor Guide.
- Your content — any information you provide to us (consultation forms, messages) remains yours. We use it only to deliver our services, as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Limitation of Liability
We provide our services with reasonable care and skill, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Our liability is limited as follows:
What we never exclude
In accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015, nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence or the negligence of our tutors, employees, or agents.
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
- Any other liability that cannot be lawfully excluded.
Limits on other liability
Subject to the above, our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising out of or in connection with our services shall not exceed the total fees you have paid to us in the 12 months immediately preceding the claim.
We are not liable for:
- Indirect or consequential losses, including (but not limited to) loss of profit, loss of data, or loss of opportunity.
- Exam results or academic outcomes — while we work diligently to support your child’s learning, we cannot guarantee specific grades or results.
- Third-party services — we are not liable for the acts or omissions of third-party platforms (such as video conferencing tools) used during sessions.
8. Your Obligations
By engaging our services, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information — ensure the details you give us (about your child, their needs, and your contact information) are correct and up to date.
- Communicate promptly — let us know about any changes to your requirements, availability, or circumstances.
- Ensure a suitable environment — make sure your child has a quiet, safe space with a reliable internet connection for online sessions.
- Respect our tutors — treat tutors with courtesy and professionalism. Harassment, abuse, or threatening behaviour toward any tutor will result in immediate termination of the engagement (see our Safeguarding Policy).
- Pay on time — settle invoices by the agreed due date.
9. Termination
Termination by you
You may end your engagement at any time by emailing us with at least 48 hours’ notice before your next scheduled session. You will only be charged for sessions already delivered.
Termination by us
We may end the engagement immediately if:
- You breach any material term of this agreement.
- There is a safeguarding concern that, in our reasonable judgement, makes it inappropriate to continue.
- Payment is significantly overdue despite reasonable reminders.
Where we terminate the agreement, you will be charged only for sessions already delivered, and any overpayment will be refunded.
Effect of termination
On termination:
- All scheduled future sessions are cancelled.
- Any outstanding balances become payable.
- We will provide a final progress report covering sessions delivered to date.
- Our obligations regarding data protection and confidentiality survive termination (see our Privacy Policy).
10. Dispute Resolution
We aim to resolve any issues quickly and fairly. If you have a complaint:
- Informal resolution — contact us at hello@yourtutorguide.co.uk. Most issues can be resolved through a conversation.
- Formal complaint — if informal resolution does not work, submit a written complaint by email. We will acknowledge it within 5 working days and provide a substantive response within 30 calendar days.
- Alternative dispute resolution — you may also refer the complaint to a certified alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider. We will provide details of an approved ADR provider upon request.
- Court proceedings — if the matter cannot be resolved through the above steps, either party may bring a claim in the courts (see Section 11).
11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on our website. The updated terms will take effect from the date shown at the top of this page. Continued use of our services after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
